A RESCUE helicopter from RAF Wattisham was involved in the search for a 94-year-old man on Mersea Island yesterday evening.
The crew carried out an hour long sweep of the island just after 9pm looking for the man, who suffers from dementia.
Thames Coastguard initially asked Mersea Coastguard to help Essex police search and rescue team in the hunt, after the man was reported missing at 4.20pm yesterday afternoon.
Mersea Coastguard assisted police with a coastal search on the south side of Mersea Island.
The man was eventually found safe and well.
