ELVES, a baker and even a snowman took a dip at West Mersea on Boxing Day.
Hundreds gathered to watch at the beach, off Coast Road, as scores of hardy people in fancy dress braved the chilly water to raise money for the RNLI.
Anthea Wade, of the Mersea and District Lifeboat Guild, which runs the event, said it had been a great success.
She added: “There was more than £1,800 collected in buckets on the beach and we’ve still got to collect the sponsorship money, so it was a good year.”
