Mersea: Rescue operation underway as four are cars stranded on the Strood

SEVERAL fire crews are helping to rescue motorists trapped in four cars on The Strood, Mersea Island.
Tidal waters have flooded onto the roadway.
It is not known how many casualties are in the vehicles at this stage.
Crews are monitoring the tide and waiting to carry out a snatch rescue should casualties be in danger.
The Marine Police are en route to the scene, along with Police and Ambulance teams.
An RNLI lifeboat is on standby and will attend if rescue becomes necessary.
