6:00pm Tuesday 15th November 2011
A WOMAN who had shed nearly half her body weight is launching her own boot camps on Mersea Island.
Sue Wray, 35, from Langenhoe, was left humiliated, when at 14st people asked her when she was due to give birth, even though she was not pregnant.
It was the turning point that saw her join Weight Watchers and dropped to 8st 7lbs in less than two years.
The fitness fanatic is celebrating being on the cover of Weight Watchers’ magazine as one of three finalists in its Cover Star competition, to have kept the bulge at bay.
Mrs Wray, who is 5ft 1ins, is set to launch a boot camp to help other people who want to lose weight.
She said: “I feel quite excited and I am also really looking forward to helping people get to their goals.
“I would have been the last person to do something like this, but if I can do it anyone can.”
She started attending hour-long fitness sessions three times a week in Colchester two years ago and ran last year’s London Marathon.
Mrs Wray said: “People asked me for advice, but I didn’t have the qualifications to help them.
“I was facing redundancy at work, so thought about doing something completely different and what I enjoy doing.”
Mrs Wray spent nine months training at Hamiltons Fitness Centre, in Severalls Industrial Park, Colchester, and is all set for the launch of her own boot camps.
They will take place at the Glebe in Colchester Road, West Mersea, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from January 2.
The classes will run from 10am until 11am and from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.
