Today's Gazette: Girls wins £5m NHS payout

* A LITTLE girl who suffered catastrophic disabilities due to NHS negligence has been given a £5million payout. The girls, who comes from the Colchester area, also got a full and unreserved apology from the NHS as a High Court judge approved the payment.
* A former church elder has been jailed for 12 months after downloading more than 40,000 child porn images. A judge described as nonsense the excuse given by Michael Collins, 61, formerly of Colchester Road, West Bergholt, that some of the images had been taken of the internet by accident.
* Waters around West Mersea could gain special status to protect rare sea animals under Government plans. The rivers Blackwater and Colne and surrounding areas could become a Marine Conservation Zone.
* X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle signs copies of his new album for fans at Sainsbury's in Stanway.
