Mersea Homes has unveiled a blueprint to build 3,000 homes on 300 hectares of fields on the egde of Greenstead. The company has promised to build a bypass linking the A120 and the A133 and a park and ride
PLUS:
* Builder Simon Curtis chased thieves who stole his truck...with six police cars and the force's helicopter in tow. He was at his home in East Road when his daughter heard the thieves. It prompted a seven-mile chase. Two men have been arrested.
* Celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan has donated £50,000 to Open Road and Inclusion Ventures and an undisclosed sum to St Helena Hospice as part of Channel 4 show Secret Millionaire.
* The full extent of the financial crisis at Greenstead Social Club has been laid bare at a public meeting. No accounts have been prepared since 2009 and there was a £50,000 black hole. Greene King is set to take over the club until it financial issues are resolved.
