Today's Gazette: Fraudster stole £100k from Mersea businessman

A BUSINESSMAN has told of his devastation after his fraudster accountant stole more than £100,000 and caused his firm to go into administration.

Stephen Relf siphoned off so much money from A&J Exhibitions, run by Tony Allery, of Colchester Road, West Mersea, it went bust.

Relf, who has been jailed for five years.

Also in today's Gazette.... A family has described their shock after they were woken in the middle of the night by burglars trying to steal their car. The raiders stole a laptop computer, sat nav, cash and car keys from the house in Ireton Road, Colchester.

More money is being spent transforming Colchester's oldest pub after it was found to be rotting. Plans to refurbish the Stockwell Arms in West Stockwell Street have been submitted - but owner Robet Morgan has revealed the cost has rocketed to £1.4m.
