Valley bowlers produce a surprise victory

A TEAM of eight men from Happy Valley Bowls Club took part in the group one double fours final at Brightlingsea.
The team consisted of Peter Hagger, Peter Ward, Eddie Evans, Mike Devenish, Derek Brown, Terry Clark, Tom Willis and George Martin and they played a team from Mersea Island.
Against all the odds, Happy Valley, who were underdogs, lifted the trophy and came away the victors by seven shots.
Happy Valley also had their finals last weekend and the men’s champion was Alen Baxter and the ladies’ champion Veronica Simpson.
