TODAY'S GAZETTE:

* Plans for GP surgeries in Wivenhoe, Great Clacton, Holland-on-Sea, Kirby Cross, West Mersea and St Anne's in Colchester look set to be ditched. Patients in north Essex could speak to their GP using web cams to negate the need to build expensive new surgeries.

* Mum Kim Yexley, of Rogation Close, Stanway, has described the nightmare moment she was told her son Robert Yexley, 24, was stabbed in the stomach. Robert is recovering at home.

* Maydays, a historic house in Colchester that was ravaged by fire and claimed the lives of Emilie and Frances Carter, is set to be restored to its former glory.
