COLCHESTER soldiers started their summer holidays with a gruelling trip to the beach.
Troops from Colchester-based 13 Air Assault Support Regiment, the Royal Logistic Corps ran from Cudmore Grove Country Park to West Mersea[1] beach.
They kicked off their leave with log races in the Blackwater Estuary. Staff Sergeant Paul Wells, in charge of the regiment’s physical training, said: “It was a chance to get everyone together and have some fun before summer leave.
“We’re used to running around Friday Woods and thought coming down to the beach for a run and some races would be something different.”
