The romantic lure of Island life is alive and well just off the coast of Essex. Mersea Island, nestled between the river Blackwater and Colne estuaries is approximately nine miles south-east of Colchester, and is without doubt one of the county's best kept secrets.

The island is approximately five miles by two miles, and has a perimeter of twelve miles encompassing the town of West Mersea and the village of East Mersea. The name is a derivation of the Anglo Saxon word ‘Meresig’, which dates from the early 10th Century and means 'island of the pool'.

Events - Cystic Fibrosis Charity Event 22nd June 2008

On the outside people with Cystic Fibrosis can look healthy but on the inside its a different story.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is a charity that is close to our hearts as it touches all of our families lives. So, Aimie's Boys are going to be waxed or shaved to raise money to help find a cure.

Cystic Fibrosis Charity Fundraiser

On June 22nd at 12o'clock various body parts (some a bit cheeky) will become bald - some taking a little longer than others!

All are welcome to come along to watch. HA! HA! BBQ & refreshments will be available so bring your wallets to buy your lunch but most importantly sponsor the boys.
